#LibDems Two weeks to save the country from a right-wing threat #BLUKIP

Liberal Democrat Leader Nick Clegg has warned that Britain may be sleepwalking into a right-wing Government.

In a speech at the National Liberal Club, Nick said the threat of a dangerous rabble of Conservatives, UKIP and the DUP holding the balance of power on May 8 loomed large.

Nick‘s comments came as the Liberal Democrats outlined plans to end the era of public sector pay restraint and offer wages which would keep pace with the cost of living.

He said:

“A Government that will lurch away to the extremes of left or right because Ed Miliband is held hostage by a small band of left wing separatists on the one hand.

“Or, because David Cameron is held to ransom by hard right ideologues that will threaten our public services and our shared values on the other.”

Nick also warned that there was a real danger that the next government will not put the national interest first.

He said:

“We ended the broken two-party system that saw power handed back and forth between the blue team and the red team in a depressing game of pass the parcel.

“But I never imagined that what would follow would be the sort of threat that faces us today. Make no mistake, there is a clear and present danger that this BLUKIP alliance will hold the balance of power after May 7.”

Nick added that the only way to stop it is for there to be enough Liberal Democrat MPs to keep the next Government in the centre ground.

He said:

“The Liberal Democrats will add a heart to a Conservative government and a brain to a Labour one. Only the Liberal Democrats will keep Britain on track and make sure our recovery is strong, stable and fair.”
