CASH-strapped local councils are flogging two school playing fields a month to plug the gap in social care funding, it was claimed.
Lib Dem Leader Farron hit out:
“Councils are selling off the family silver, our school playing fields, to plug their funding gaps and pay for social care.”
“The flame of inspiration sparked by that summer in London in 2012 should be nurtured but yet the government seem happy to put that all at risk by flogging off playing fields.
“We shouldn’t make councils choose between our children’s future or caring for the vulnerable.”
