Norman Lamb accuses Govt of shamelessly lying over Surrey Council ‘gentleman’s agreement’ on social care“The Government has shamelessly lied to Parliament and to the British people in denying that any special agreement was made with Surrey County Council.

Norman said

“The Prime Minister now has serious questions to answer after she stood at the Despatch Box and called suggestions of a sweetheart deal ‘alternative facts’.

“The Government must come clean on exactly what this deal entails, when it was reached and who was involved. Full details must be made public immediately.

“We cannot accept a cosy, secret agreement between Tory Ministers and Tory Councils while other parts of the country get a raw deal.

Any special treatment given to Surrey County Council must be given to all local authorities whose social care services have been desperately starved of cash.”
