Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central Jenny Willott, has welcomed the news that the UK economy has recovered to pre-crash levels.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that the UK economy has grown by 0.8% over the last quarter, ensuring that the UK economy has now returned to the same level it had before the banking crisis in 2008.

The UK economy is forecast to be the fastest growing among the G7 developed nations, according to the International Monetary Fund.

Commenting, Jenny Willott MP, said:

“This is fantastic news and shows that the Coalition Government’s economic plan is working.

“It is further evidence that the Liberal Democrats as part of the Coalition have made the right decisions to help restore the UK economy, which is now growing at the fastest rate of any major economy. We have supported the creation of a record number of apprentices, invested in key sectors like manufacturing, assisted businesses to make over 1 million new jobs and delivered an £800 tax cut to help millions of people.

“There is still work to be done and the Liberal Democrats will continue to ensure that everyone benefits from the recovery and has the opportunities to get on.”
