Purse snatch in Aldi car park, Cleethorpes Road – appeal for witnesses

Humberside Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a woman had a purse snatched Thursday evening in Grimsby.

The 60 year old woman who had visited the Aldi store in Cleethorpes Road in Grimsby between 1835hrs and 1845hrs on Thursday evening, 12 February 2015 was in the car park when a man snatched the purse she was carrying.

The woman was pushing a shopping trolley at the time as the man approached her from behind and reached around her to take the purse from her hand without speaking.

The man was then said to run from the scene with other members of the public in pursuit onto Thorold Street and Humber Street.

The woman was not injured in the incident. The stolen tan coloured, leather look purse contained a small amount of cash and personal effects.

The man is described as being aged between 23 and 34 and approximately 6ft tall and of skinny build. He was said to be wearing a black balaclava which covered his face and a light blue anorak style jacket light blue jeans and dark footwear.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information in connection with it. Calls should be made to 101 quoting crime reference number AC/2096921 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
