Know where to go this Easter bank holiday for health help and advice in North East Lincolnshire

by Steve Beasant on 26 March, 2015

With Easter bank holiday approaching North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is reminding local residents about the opening times of local pharmacies over the Easter period and what the benefits are.

The CCG’s advice is to keep a well-stocked medicine cabinet for times when people are feeling under the weather, with medicines such as paracetamol, ibuprofen and antihistamines. If a repeat prescription is needed it is important to plan ahead and ensure that all medicines are ordered before the Easter period.

Patients in need of professional help can get fast, confidential and expert advice and treatment for many minor ailments and injuries from their local pharmacist without an appointment. They can also give advice on the best over the counter medication for common complaints.

Dr Rakesh Pathak, Clinical Lead for Unplanned Care at the CCG said: “Over this Easter period we are encouraging people to seek health advice from their local pharmacy in the first instance if they start to feel under the weather. Acting early can help ensure appropriate treatment or advice is given so that you get back to good health as quickly as possible.

“Pharmacists are highly trained health professionals who can do far more than just dispense medicines. They are able to offer advice on how to treat most minor illnesses and injuries and, if they can’t provide the appropriate treatment, they will tell you the best course of action to take.

“You don’t need an appointment, so it’s easy to just pop in and discuss any concerns you may have. So if you start to feel under the weather this Easter, don’t wait to make an appointment with your GP or head for A&E, pop into your local pharmacy for fast and convenient help and advice.”

A number of pharmacies are open over the Easter period, you can view them here.
