Humberside Police urge youngsters to sign up for Lifestyle 2015

by Steve Beasant on 13 May, 2015

The hugely successful Lifestyle project will be launched at 11.30am on Saturday May 16 in the central-atrium of the Princes Quay Shopping Centre in Hull.

The BBC’s Crispin Rolfe will be master of ceremonies and other key Lifestyle supporters will be endorsing the project.

It is hoped thousands of 10 to 18-year-olds will be inspired to become actively involved in making a difference to their local communities.

Guests including sponsors, community champions, civic dignitaries, police community support officers (PCSOs) will come together at the event as well as speakers including Lifestyle’s principal supporter Dr Diana Taylor from BP and Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Grove. Current Lifestyle champions, ‘Born this way’ will also be there to talk about their Lifestyle experience as they encourage more youngsters to get involved in the project.

Long term supporter of Lifestyle, Paul Lyons from Arco, will reflect upon a decade of involvement in the project, and Julia Mizon, of NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group will speak.

With help from the Volunteer Youth Ambassadors, the new Lifestyle 2015 t-shirt will be unveiled and the new DVDs will be screened.

Lifestyle is now entering its 27th, attracting a staggering 158,500 participants working in excess of two-and-a-half million hours to make a difference to their local communities to help others during the summer holidays.

Prizes on offer include a trip of a lifetime to South Africa, a Parisian adventure including days to Disney Paris and MGM Studios, holidays in Wales, track day experiences and day trips to the UK’s leading theme parks.

Diana Taylor, Business Development Manager at BP said: “BP is absolutely delighted to return as Principal Supporter for 2015. Each year, the Lifestyle teams amaze us with their commitment, care and determination to make a positive difference.

“BP is proud to be part of the community around the Humber. So many people and families from the region have dedicated their working lives to the site over the years and I can think of no better way to help give something back than by supporting Lifestyle”.

Matthew Grove, Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside said: “Lifestyle has proved every year that we have so many young people in this area who we can be rightly proud of. It’s a fantastic example of how young people can make a positive contribution to their community, build relationships and improve their own skills. The fact that thousands of young people have taken part and benefited from their involvement is a tribute to Humberside Police and our partner organisations who have worked hard to develop and support the programme for over 25 years.”

The first 4,000 to register will receive a free Lifestyle 2015 shirt and each team will receive a project pack containing all of the information needed for a successful summer.
