Free Screening of Popular Mozart Opera at Grimsby Auditorium

by Steve Beasant on 9 September, 2015

Garsington Opera’s production of Mozart’s comic masterpiece Così fan tutte will be given a free screening at Grimsby Auditorium on Tuesday, September 29 at 10.45am as part of a project organised and delivered by Lincs Inspire Limited’s Arts Development Team and the Music and Performing Arts Service. The screening is part of Garsington Opera’s outreach programme making quality opera accessible to a wider audience, free of charge

Featuring international star Lesley Garrett together with a sparkling cast, this exquisite production opened the Garsington Opera season at Wormsley in June. A light-hearted wager spirals out of control when two young soldiers allow themselves to be drawn into the intrigues of their cynical friend who persuades them to put the love of their adored fiancées to the test. Playing with the girls’ emotions is a dangerous experiment in which nobody is left unchanged. Arguably Mozart’s greatest masterpiece, Così fan tutte is a bittersweet comedy in which real people face real and painful predicaments, drawing from Mozart some of his most captivating music.

David Power, Principal Arts Officer said: “I am delighted that Grimsby will see a free screening of this wonderful opera by Mozart. Garsington Opera are an excellent company who have done a thoroughly enjoyable performance of this Mozart opera. Their screening has earned excellent reviews from the Daily Telegraph, the Independent and the Spectator. I hope that both seasoned admirers of opera and those who are new to opera will take advantage of this opportunity.”

Tickets are only available from the Grimsby Auditorium Box Office either on the door or online – www.grimsbyauditorium.org.uk.
