Kate Parminter: Good to see Tories finally proposing tougher sentences for animal cruelty, a policy taken straight from Lib Dems manifesto

by Steve Beasant on 1 October, 2017

Lib Dem Deputy Leader in the Lords & Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Kate Parminter said that it is good to see Tories finally proposing tougher sentences for animal cruelty, a policy taken straight from Lib Dems manifesto.

Kate, added:

“It is very welcome that the government is finally agreeing to introduce tougher animal sentences for extreme cruelty against animals.

“This policy was proposed in the recent Liberal Democrat manifesto and it is something that we have long campaigned for. While the Conservatives have had to drop many unpopular policies from their own manifesto, it is good to see that they are now reaching for the Liberal Democrat one instead.

“We must now ensure that this legislation is passed and implemented as soon as possible to deter more of these horrific crimes from happening.”
