Commenting on Donald Trump’s threats to cut off US aid to any country that doesn’t fall in line behind their position on Jerusalem, Jo Swinson, Liberal Democrat Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, said:

“This is a pathetic attempt by Trump to bully the international community.

“Clearly the President cannot grasp the fact that diplomacy is about making your case and leading, not threatening anyone who disagrees with you.

“The UK should publicly denounce Trump’s threats, and promise along with our allies to make up the shortfall in any international aid withdrawn from poor countries.

“Israel and Palestine deserve a lasting peace. The actions of the US president only make that less likely.”
