Lib Dems respond to draft European Council guidelines

by Steve Beasant on 7 March, 2018

Commenting on the draft guidelines from the European Council on the future relationship with the UK, Tom Brake, Liberal Democrat Brexit Spokesperson, said:

“The Prime Minister needs to drop the illusion that we can keep the benefits of the EU without being a member.

“May’s Brexit will leave us economically and socially weaker, pushed to the sidelines on the biggest issues of the day.

“Brexit cheerleaders, including the leader of the Labour party, now have to make a choice between mindlessly pursuing their damaging ideology and doing what’s right for the country.”

“Only the Liberal Democrats are offering the country an exit from Brexit, giving the people the final say on the deal, and the option to stay in the European Union.”
