Responding to David Davis’ comments regarding the UK remaining in the customs union, Liberal Democrat Brexit committee member Wera Hobhouse MP said:
“It is ironic that Mr Davis, who continually talks about ‘taking back control’, refused to confirm the Government would comply with the wishes of Parliament if MPs voted for the UK to remain in the customs union.
“The EU is the UK’s largest export market, and remains vital for the livelihoods of people right across the UK. The Tories are clearly determined to pursue an ideological Brexit at any cost, including the price of democracy.
“David Davis’ remarks reinforce the case for the public to have the final say on the deal.”
