The Liberal Democrats are calling for the Transport Secretary Chris Grayling to consider his position, following the resignation of Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) boss Charles Horton over the mismanagement of the new timetable.
Since the new timetables were introduced in May thousands of trains have been cancelled by both GTR and Northern Rail, with some lines not running any trains for the foreseeable future.
Jenny Randerson, Liberal Democrat Transport Spokesperson said:
“Although the resignation of Thameslink’s boss is welcome news, it is time that Grayling considered his position.
“He has continually failed to take any responsibility for the chaos commuters are facing and instead is happy to blame everyone but himself. He is in charge of the railways and the buck stops with him.”
