Responding to the US Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Trump’s travel ban, Liberal Democrat Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Christine Jardine said:

“This is another disappointing development and yet more evidence of why this Conservative Government should be distancing the country from, not welcoming, Donald Trump.

“If we must play host to this President then we should be using it to underline how divisive and destructive his approach is in the international field.

“Human rights already seem to figure low on his list of priorities and now this latest measure, targeting specific nationals, will do little to improve international relations.

“That the Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, previously suggested Trump might be considered for a Nobel Peace Prize remains completely inappropriate and misguided. The Conservative Government must unequivocally condemn this travel ban.”
