Responding to yesterday’s NATO summit in Brussels, Liberal Democrat Leader Vince Cable said:
“Many of the security challenges that the UK faces today are ones we share with our NATO allies. These contemporary challenges often do not respect national borders and require multilateral defence cooperation.
“NATO has been key to preserving peace in Western Europe for the last 70 years. The value of NATO and its founding principle that an attack on one member state is an attack on all member states transcends individual politicians who come and go.
“We must not allow NATO’s core principles to be wrecked by the bully Trump. Theresa May must stand shoulder to shoulder with our NATO partners, in defence of the open and co-operative rules-based international order.”
