Responding to reports that Burberry burnt bags and clothes worth millions, Liberal Democrat Environment Spokesperson Tim Farron said:
“At a time we’re all being encouraged to cut down and reuse our plastic waste, it is outrageous that Burberry think setting fire to their unsold stock is an acceptable solution.
“Recycling is far better for the environment than burning to generate energy. Burberry should have recycled as much as they could. As a leading British fashion brand they should be leading the way in sustainable fashion.
“These days when individuals are told they need to be less wasteful, big companies have a responsibility to do the same.”
