Responding to the announcement that the Conservative Government are selling off the Red Arrows RAF Scampton air base, Liberal Democrat Armed Forces Spokesperson, Jamie Stone MP, said: 

“Selling off RAF Scampton in the centenary year of the RAF sums up the Conservative Government’s approach to our armed forces.

“This historic airfield is of enormous national importance. Not only is the base now home to our iconic red arrows, but it was also home to the 617 squadron of the Dambusters mission in World War II.

“The Conservative’s decision to sell the base off is a huge blow to jobs in Lincoln as well as our national heritage.”
