North East Lincolnshire Council has now upgraded its telephone system to enable customers to speak to the person or service they want to much more quickly and easily.

The main changes are listed below:

• Automation of the main contact number (01472) 313131: 
            o The first option will ask if the customer knows the four digit extension number to dial it now. The call will then be transferred directly to the extension number; Secondly, the customer can say the name of the person they want to speak to if they know it; 
            o There are then some options for the high volume services that the Council provides to be placed straight to the relevant service. There is also an option to talk to a customer service agent directly.

• The introduction of 15 golden numbers: 
             o The council have introduced 15 golden numbers to enable customers to reach services more efficiently and get to the person/service they need to talk to more quickly; 
             o These are menu driven by pressing the relevant option.

The golden numbers are:

• Arts, Leisure, Sports and Libraries in the area – 326286
• Council Tax, Business Rates and Benefits – 326287
• Waste Collection and Disposal – 326288
• Planning, Building Control and Council Assets – 326289
• Transport and Parking – 326290
• Education, School Support and School Transport – 326291
• Children’s Social Care, Safeguarding and Offending – 326292
• Early Years and Childcare – 326293
• Youth Support and Youth Offending – 326294
• Births, Deaths and Marriages – 326295
• Housing and Energy Efficiency – 326296
• Regeneration, Jobs and Investment in North East Lincolnshire – 326297
• Fraud, Whistle blowing, Complaints and Information Requests – 326298
• Environmental Health, Licensing and Trading Standards – 326299
• Reports problems about streets, parks and open spaces – 326300
