The Quayside Practice became a permanent local GP practice under a contract with NHS England in January 2012. A minimum registered list guarantee until June 2014 was given by NHS England, which temporarily maintained their income to allow the practice time to transition patients from ‘walk in’ to ‘registered’. The offering of a weekday walk in service by Quayside was not commissioned by North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), but was provided by the practice using the transitional support funded by NHS England to help them to encourage registration of patients. The transitional agreement with NHS England came to an end in June 2014.

Patients who wish to attend Quayside practice Monday to Friday can do so if they register with them. This means that all patients who find it more convenient to attend Quayside can do so by exercising their choice of registered practice. For those patients already registered with Quayside, there will be no change.

The Practice is still commissioned by the NHS England contract to see out of area patients (people not living within North East Lincolnshire) in normal working hours. Other patients requiring access to primary care at these times should continue to contact their registered practice.

The weekend walk-in service which is commissioned from Quayside by the CCG is still place. Therefore everyone can continue to access the weekend and bank holiday walk in centre without changing their practice, or use the GP out of hours service provided at the Diana Princess of Wales site as these services form part of the primary care out of hours provision that is a responsibility of the CCG.

The latest North East Lincolnshire GP patient survey information supports the view that the population has good access to primary care provision. The percentage of patients able to get an appointment or see someone, based on an all-England MORI poll 92%, 5% points above the national average.
