Humberside Police are appealing for independent witnesses to come forward following the report of an assault on Oxford Street in Grimsby on Saturday 27 September.
The incident is said to have taken place at around 1645hrs as a woman walked along the street with her young daughter.
Three people who were known to the woman were said to have crossed the road from the opposite side to speak to her and an assault is alleged to have taken place.
The woman sustained facial injuries and independent witnesses are now being sought to establish the circumstances leading to the woman being injured.
If anyone is able to provide information in connection with the reported assault they are asked to call Humberside Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
