Responding to comments by Wes Streeting MP that the Labour Party is now the single biggest barrier to Britain remaining in the EU single market, Liberal Democrat Brexit Spokesperson Tom Brake said:

“It is time for the Labour leadership to wake up. They need to start opposing the Tory’s extreme Brexit rather than cheering them on.

“It would be a hugely reckless move to rip Britain out of the single market yet Labour are happy to go against the best interests of the country.

“The government lacks an official opposition on the biggest issue of the day. The Liberal Democrats will keep up the fight against Theresa May’s extreme Brexit, we invite MPs from across the House to join us.”
