Commenting on reports that Brexiters are suggesting an extension of the transition period to accommodate changes to customs arrangements, Liberal Democrat Brexit spokesperson Tom Brake said:
“People will remember with incredulity Liam Fox’s claim that a free trade agreement with the EU should be ‘one of the easiest in human history’.
“It is now clear there isn’t a chance in hell that the UK government will have implemented any viable form of customs arrangement at UK/EU borders by December 2020.
“The case for giving people a final say on the deal and an Exit from Brexit grows with every Cabinet calamity and ministerial squabble.”
