Lib Dems: Government customs row reduced to ‘any Brexit will do’

by Steve Beasant on 16 May, 2018

Responding to the admission from a senior cabinet minister, David Lidington MP, that there has been “serious criticism” of both proposed models for the UK’s customs arrangements, Liberal Democrat Brexit spokesperson Tom Brake MP said:

“The Tories once claimed they would make the best of Brexit. Now it seems, regardless of the economic damage, it is ‘any Brexit will do’.

“When livelihoods are on the line, that simply isn’t good enough. Given the Tories are divided and seeking last minute legal advice for their shambolic plans, it is clearer day by day that they cannot be trusted.

“That is why the Liberal Democrats are campaigning for the people to have the final say on the deal.”
